Wardell Holland III, 44, and Shaquita Stewart, 41, both of Suitland, were charged with second-degree murder, PGPD said. Stewart is also charged with first-degree murder and accessory after the fact.

The charges stem from the shooting of Donnell Tyler, who was found wounded from gunfire in a parking lot as police responded to the 4600 block of Silver Hill Road around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.

Tyler, of District Heights, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A follow-up investigation found that the suspects knew Tyler and were arguing with him in the moments leading up to the shooting.

They both fled the scene afterward, police allege.

Both were arrested on Friday, March 22 and are in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who would like to speak to a Homicide Unit detective may call 301-516-2512.
